Climate Fresk is a powerful tool to provide climate education. It was created in 2015 in France by Cédric Ringenbach as a serious game based on 42 cards. The participants draw a collage which summarizes the fundamental science of climate change. The deployment of the workshop in more than 50 countries (including The Netherlands) is based on the belief that we first need to understand the problem in order to take action.
Facilitating different workshops
In November 2021 we were still living in the Netherlands. It was a transition period between our long hike across Europe and moving to France and I had not a lot of activity. So, I registered to an online Climate Fresk workshop because I vaguely heard of it before. I was so impressed by the learning experience based on collective intelligence that I immediately decided to become a facilitator. I have been for long interested in teaching techniques and this was new and powerful.
I started quickly to facilitate workshops in companies in the Netherlands as a professional (and I still do). Today I am also deploying all kind of educational workshops on climate, food, nature, mobility to the public in the territory of vallée de Villé and around Sélestat. For this, I volunteer in the association Hop La Transition as a local coordinator.
I recently learned to facilitate another workshop about food systems called “Fresque Agri’Alim”. It replicates the same principles of a game based on collective intelligence to educate about the challenges of Food Chain.
Participants find often these workshops inspiring, sometimes even transformative.
Exploring alternative pathways
One pillar of our project at Le Nouveau Printemps is to offer our guests the possibility to explore alternative pathways through workshops blending this kind of learning experience and hands-on experimentation.
